Our Fabric
Nylon/Spandex 80/20
Fiber
80% Nylon + 20% Spandex
Weight
200–220 gsm
Construction
Circular knit
Squat-proof opacity
200-220gsm ensures no see-through during practice. The extra density means full coverage in every pose — no adjusting, no anxiety.
Modest coverage
High GSM plus tight-knit structure provides non-revealing coverage, suitable for prayer and hijab-compatible layering.
Quick-dry performance
Moisture-wicking handles SEA humidity and transitions between activities. You stay comfortable from desk to yoga mat.
4-way stretch
Circular knit accommodates the full range of motion without restriction. No binding, no riding up, no distractions.
Why not bamboo or organic cotton?
Both have excellent feel but struggle in humid conditions. Organic cotton absorbs moisture rather than wicking it — it becomes heavy when wet and slow to dry. Bamboo viscose has a similar issue. We chose performance without sacrificing the gentle, non-restrictive feel that healing yoga demands.
FAQ
Common questions
What does 200-220gsm mean for my practice?
GSM stands for grams per square meter — it measures fabric weight. At 200-220gsm, this fabric is substantially denser than most yoga wear (typically 180-200gsm). That extra weight means better opacity, no see-through during bends, and a supportive feel without compression. For healing yoga — where you want to disappear into the pose, not adjust your outfit — it's the right call.
Is nylon/spandex safe for sensitive skin?
Nylon and spandex are both synthetic fibers with a long track record in activewear. Neither is inherently irritating. If you have a diagnosed fiber sensitivity, we recommend doing a patch test first. For most people, the circular knit construction creates a smoother surface against the skin compared to looser weaves. Our dyes are standard commercial-grade — no special chemical treatments.
Why did you choose this blend over organic cotton?
Organic cotton is exceptional for breathability and skin feel — but it absorbs moisture rather than wicking it. In humid conditions, cotton becomes heavy and slow to dry. Our nylon/spandex blend moves moisture away from the skin and dries faster. You stay comfortable from desk to yoga mat without changing. We chose performance without compromising the gentle, non-restrictive feel that healing yoga demands.
Is this fabric suitable for prayer or compatible with hijab?
Yes. The 200-220gsm weight ensures full opacity regardless of movement. The fabric doesn't cling or become revealing during prostration. Combined with our modest neckline on the Amber Yoga Top, the outfit is designed to be worn throughout prayer without adjustment. Many of our customers in Malaysia and Indonesia have told us this was a key reason they chose JoyAchieve.
What makes this different from regular activewear?
Most activewear is engineered for high-performance sweat sessions — tight compression, synthetic shine, aggressive drying. Healing yoga is different: the practice is slow, the sweat is optional, the priority is comfort. We chose a fabric that feels like a second skin but breathes like natural fiber, drapes gently rather than squeezes, and handles both morning meditation and an afternoon meeting without looking out of place.
